  • You should consider seeing a psychologist if you are feeling overwhelmed by stress, struggling to cope with difficult life events, feeling low, or overthinking things. Seeing a psychologist may seem daunting, but here at Sage, we aim to make your time with us as nurturing, supportive and transformative as possible.

  • Yes, in most cases you can receive a rebate from your private health provider, provided you have cover for Psychological Services. Please contact your health fund directly for further information about the amount to be rebated.

  • Yes. We work with NDIS plans (both self and plan-managed). NDIS clients will be charged at the rate suggested by the current NDIS Pricing Arrangement guidelines.

  • Yes. Sage Psychology can see you in person, over the phone or via a video platform. We understand that there may be instances where online appointments are most appropriate. Please specify whether you’d like a telehealth appointment upon booking your appointment.

  • Please complete our online form here or email us at info@sagepsychology.com.au. From there, we will chat through the booking process, and the next available appointment date.

  • Please bring your Medicare card, private healthcare card (if applicable), a copy of your Mental Health Care Plan (if applicable), and any other relevant reports or information that may help the clinician. A pen and notebook can also be helpful to write down any notes.

  • As an adult, you have the option to attend alone, or with a support person.

If the appointment is for a minor (under 18 years), we ask that a parent or guardian attend the first appointment. We may also request the parent or guardian attend the initial meeting alone, so their concerns can be communicated openly. This will be discussed prior to the meeting.

Parent or guardian attendance at ongoing meetings is at the discretion of both Sage and the minor, and this will be discussed openly with the parent or guardian.

  • In the first appointment (which is usually around 50 minutes), you get to tell your story, why you’re seeking assistance and what you’d like to achieve through therapy. It’s also an opportunity for you and the clinician to develop a deeper connection and create a clear plan of action together.

In subsequent meetings, your therapy will include strategies that you can implement into your daily life to improve your situation. Specific tasks or ‘homework’ may be given between sessions to advance your progress.

  • Yes. Sage will ensure that your conversations are completely confidential, and we will not disclose them to anyone.

The only exceptions include providing your referring doctor with information about your sessions if under a Medicare arrangement, if we are concerned about risk of harm to you or another person, or if we suspect risk or harm to a child.
